On the eve of the provincial election, the housing committees of Greater Southwest Montreal (CACV, POPIR, and RIL), in partnership with the Coalition contre le logement cher (COLOC), are mobilizing to demand real commitments from political leaders when it comes to social housing.
When we talk about the drastic increase in homelessness, we are told that there is a housing shortage. Yet, all across the city, thousands of buildings are currently sitting vacant, in some cases for years.
What we are calling for: more restrictive municipal policies regarding vacant buildings, and above all, adequate funding programs that will make it possible to transform these spaces into social and community housing!
Join us for this evening demonstration, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Jolicoeur Station. It will be festive: there will be music, visual entertainment, and unexpected twists and turns.
Hot drinks and food will be served at the end of the demonstration.
